Who We Are & What We Do

Write For The Culture was created by Stalina Goodwin (The Melanated Word Nerd) as a program within her writing organization My Ambitions As A Writer. Write For The Culture exists to help black writers cultivate their creativity. We seek to celebrate our favorite black books, films, songs and their creators. With a focus on literacy in the black community, we empower black writers to add to the very culture that sets the trends for the rest of the world, Black culture. It is our belief that the ultimate act of revolution for black people isn't just to read and write, but to read and write well and boldly. We not only want to provide the methods that can help to make that happen, but we also want to bring to the forefront those in our community who are successfully doing that.
